Thoughts from Pastor Bob

Have you ever noticed that God answers our prayers in one of three ways?  Yes, no,                                                                           and wait.  For me, wait is one of the hardest answers to accept.  For me personally,                                                                             patience is not one of my virtues.  I have a sticky note on my bathroom mirror to remind me                                                                 of this fact daily.  It says: “Dear Lord, Grant me patience.  RIGHT NOW!”  The Jews of old                                                                   patiently waited for the coming of the Messiah.  His coming was foretold in the writings of                                                                     the prophets.

Finally, the wait was over.  In God’s ultimate plan, He sent His Son to don human flesh,                                                                       be born of a virgin, and walk this earth just like you and me.  With one exception, he walked without sin.  At Bethel Community Church, we celebrate this season of Advent with services and messages geared towards examining the lives of four men who had an impact on the life of the Lord Jesus.  We will study Adam, Isaiah, Joseph, and Simeon.  We invite you to wait with us as well.  It will be well worth the wait.

Other activities will include “Sounds of Christmas”.  This will be held on Sunday night, December 10, at 6:00 PM.  We will have both secular and religious music, a dessert bar at intermission, and an appearance by Santa himself.  There is no admission charge and is open to all.  Christmas Service will be Sunday, December 24, at 10:30 AM.  Sunday School starts at  9:30 AM.

Brenda and I just completed our first year at Bethel Community Church and could not be happier.  We have found this church to be extremely warm and hospitable.  I would encourage anyone who does not have a church home to try Bethel.  Nobody likes waiting alone.

My office hours are Tuesdays, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, or by appointment.  Feel free to contact me at any time.
