                           Thoughts from Pastor Bob

Easter Sunday has come and gone.  We had both a Good Friday service and a sunrise                                                                   Easter Morning service this year.  Right before the Good Friday service, we said good bye to                                                               our beloved brother and long-time church member, Lee Conaway.  Lee was ninety-nine years                                                             old at the time of his death.

As I drove around the area where Lee lived and ranched, I noted all of the blue gates.  It                                                                 was pointed out to me when I became pastor, that the blue gates showed Lee’s property.  I marveled at how many blue gates there were in this area.  I also marveled at how many people were touched by Lee Conaway.  We had 145 in service for his funeral.  145 blue gates, so to say.  You can look around the church and see where Lee touched it.  I am a better person having known and ministered to Lee.  And, he ministered to me.

Due to Brenda’s upcoming surgery, I have suspended my office hours.  I will normally be in the office on Tuesday, but may need to stay home as Brenda recovers.  Please call for an appointment if you need to speak with me in person.  785-633-2621.

We are now beginning a study of Ecclesiastes.  The author finds himself steeped in doubt and depression.  This is a good study because we find ourselves in doubt and depression when we look at the world and our circumstances.  But if we look to Jesus, we can climb out of our doubt and depression.

One of my favorite scriptures is Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.  I will be preaching on this scripture on Sunday, May 5th.  We will be celebrating with Communion that Sunday.  Come join us.  See the youth events listed on this web page.

Finally, it's not too early to be in prayer for Vacation Bible School.  The dates are July 29 through August 2.  Volunteers are needed.  Contact Brenda at 785-633-9042 to join the team.  Register your children on line on this web page.
